We are pleased to present the winning picture and honourable mentions from the third annual PAFSO Photo Contest which was held earlier this year.
Joël Monfils’ “Beyond the Mountain, More Mountains” was chosen as the overall winner. The picture was taken on the road between Seguin and Furcy in Haiti and the title comes from a creole saying meaning as you solve one problem another appears. Joël explained that his image captures some of the challenges that Haiti is facing, including deforestation and a topography ill-suited for agriculture. At the same time, the boy in the image represents the resolve and determination of the Haitian people.

This was the third consecutive year that PAFSO has held its photo contest, and for the third time images submitted in the contest are being used to create a desk calendar for our members. Members should expect to receive their calendars along with bout de papier, Vol. 26-4.
