The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) is pleased to announce the election of Mr. Craig Weichel as President of the Association.
Craig Weichel (BA (Hons), Wilfrid Laurier University, 1994; MA, McMaster University, 1996) joined the Foreign Service (Political/Economic Stream) in 1998 as a new recruit in the Foreign Service Development Programme. He has served abroad with the Canadian Delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna (2002-2005), the Canadian Permanent Mission to the UN in New York (2000) and the Canadian Embassy in Washington DC (2000). At Headquarters, Mr. Weichel is currently Deputy Director in the Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament Division and has also had assignments in the United States General Relations Division and Northern Europe Division. Mr. Weichel served on the Executive Committee in 2001-2002 and rejoined the Committee in 2006. He served as Vice-President (Political/Economic Stream) until being named President in November 2007.
Mr. Weichel is married to Carol Ann (née Stuckless).
