The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) is pleased to invite you to take part in the 2022 Annual PAFSO Photo Contest.
The theme for the 2022 PAFSO photo contest is Renewal. Over the course of the last year, we have seen the end of many pandemic safety protocols in several parts of the world. With practices such as masking, physical distancing or capacity limits winding down, our judges are interested in seeing what your world looks like now from your vantage point. Perhaps you find yourself somewhere that is trying to “live with the virus”. Or perhaps where you live and work has not quite reached that point. Whatever the case, over two years on, the judges want you to show them your current day-to-day experience.
The contest is open to all PAFSO members. Spouses and dependents are welcome to contribute, but all entries need to be submitted under a member’s name.
There is a limit of three photos per member.
Original images only
Submissions must be original images which have not been published previously.
While minor digital enhancement is permitted, images which have undergone significant modifications will not be accepted.
Consent of subjects
Please make sure that you have the consent of any people depicted in the images you are submitting.
Images should be submitted in JPEG (at high quality) or TIFF format. For optimal publication, we require files to be a minimum of 300 dpi in resolution and between 2 and 15 Mb per image.
The filename of your submissions should include your full name, the title of the photo and the location. (e.g. Firstname_Lastname_TitleOfMyPhotograph_City_Country.jpg)
How to enter
You can enter the contest by using this online submission form.
All entries must be received by Friday, August 5, 2022.
Judges will select the wining photographs based on their creativity, composition, visual impact, and respect of the contest theme.
Winning entries will be featured in the 2023 PAFSO calendar, PAFSO social media, bout de papier magazine and the PAFSO website. The top three winners will be awarded gift certificates.
Terms and conditions
PAFSO reserves full usage rights indefinitely of all entries for use in PAFSO promotional material, bout de papier, and indefinite display on the PAFSO website. By entering the photo contest, you grant PAFSO the non-exclusive right to publish, use, distribute, reproduce and publicly display your photograph, and to create derivative works from your photograph, in perpetuity, in any of its online, print or other media publications, materials or exhibitions, for purposes of promoting PAFSO, without payment of compensation unless prohibited by law. Photos will be credited to the photographer. Subject to the rights granted to PAFSO, you retain all other copyrights and rights to future use of the photographs you enter into the contest.
