Group Insurance - Special Announcement

PAFSO is pleased to announce a new alliance partnership with the ING/Novex Insurance Company of Canada, effective September 1, 2003.

ING Novex is one of the largest insurance companies in Canada and they have offices in 60 countries, with over 115,000 employees to serve us. ING’s commitment to provide innovative and quality products, at affordable group prices, will be of great value to all PAFSO members. We have also been able to arrange special policy provisions for our members, which recognize the unique insurance requirements we have during a posting to other countries.

Policies with our previous partner, the Trader General Insurance Company, will automatically be transferred to Novex on each policy’s renewal date. A modest rate increase can be expected, but PAFSO has been able to insulate almost all of our members from the 20 – 40% rate increases we have seen in Canada, over the past year. Many policies, especially for home insurance, will have improved coverage, and substantial discounts are provided when both your automobile and home insurance are with our new program.

Our administrator, Group Services, has arranged for a smooth transition of our members’ insurance policies to the new ING/Novex program. PAFSO members will receive their new policies prior to their renewal date, and the previous payment method will be continued under the new ING/Novex policy. There is one minor change if a PAFSO member’s policy renews in October of this year. The normal monthly premium deduction will not be deducted from their bank account in September. This deduction will be added to the October monthly deduction. In other words, if your policy renews in October 2003, no deduction from your bank account will be made in September, but a doubled amount will be deducted in October.

This decision to partner with ING was made on the strong recommendation of our insurance advisors and PAFSO members should see improved insurance benefits and service, at reasonable premium rates, for many years to come. Please watch for the formal announcement in the next bout de papier.
